What this service does
Lightfast adds a visible watermark to documents, removes information from them irreversibly, and records what was issued so it can later be checked. The part that handles your document runs entirely in your own browser — the file is not uploaded, and there is no route on this server that could receive one.
What the server does handle is your account, your subscription, and a registry of hashes and encrypted records. That distinction is not marketing: it is the reason most of the obligations a document-processing service would carry do not attach here.
Intellectual property
The software, its interface and its documentation belong to the operator named above. Third-party components are used under their own licences and are listed in the NOTICE file distributed with the downloadable tools — including pdf.js under Apache-2.0 and qrcode-generator under MIT, whose licence text travels with every copy.
Documents you protect are yours. Nothing about processing them here transfers any right in them to us, and we do not receive them in any case.
Reporting a problem
For anything about the service, use the contact form. It reaches us and we reply to the address you give. The operator's own address is in the table at the top of this page, for anyone who needs to write directly.
Security vulnerabilities go through the same contact form, under Reporting a security problem. Please use that rather than the operator's address: the subject routes the message to the mailbox kept for security reports, so it does not sit in with general enquiries. Describe what you found in writing — the form cannot receive files, and no part of this service accepts a document.
Applicable law
This service is operated from the Republic of Panama, by the person named above, and Panamanian law governs it. A dispute that cannot be settled directly belongs to the competent courts of Panama City.
That does not take away protection you have at home. Where the law of the country you live in gives you consumer rights that cannot be signed away — including, in many places, the right to bring a claim in your own courts — those rights still apply and come first.
